How Running Helped Me Lose 70 Pounds—and Why I Built RunFierz to Help You


There was a time in my life when the idea of becoming “a runner” felt impossible. I didn’t grow up running. I was a farm kid so I did have fitness. As I grew older I lost that fitness, became overweight, frustrated, and tired of feeling trapped in a body and lifestyle that didn’t reflect who I wanted to be.

But I did know two things for sure:

  1. I wanted to lose the weight.

  2. I wanted to feel proud of myself again.

So I took one small step—literally.

I started learning how to run. Not fast, not far, and definitely not gracefully at first. But I showed up. I walked. I jogged. I repeated. I built small habits that eventually changed everything. Running didn’t just help me lose weight—it helped me realize what I was capable of.

Seeing the Reality Through the Pharmacy Window

While working as a pharmacy technician, I have front-row seat to something heartbreaking. Day after day, I watched people on medications for conditions that, in many cases, could have been dramatically improved—or even avoided—through weight loss, movement, and consistent daily exercise.

High blood pressure.

Type 2 diabetes.

Cholesterol issues.

Pain meds for joints stressed by inactivity.

So many people didn’t need more prescriptions—they needed hope, education, support, and a system for change.

Seeing that shook me.It also motivated me.

I didn’t want to be another person stuck in that cycle, and I didn’t want others to feel trapped in it either.

How I Combined Running + Weight Watchers and Lost 70 Pounds

My passion for running grew at the same time I joined Weight Watchers. The two together became my formula:

  • Running gave me strength, endurance, and a growing sense of identity.

  • Weight Watchers helped me learn balance, nutrition, and accountability.

I didn’t do anything extreme.I didn’t starve myself.I didn’t run marathons right away.

I committed to the daily actions—fueling better, moving more, following a plan, and setting goals that challenged me without crushing me.

The weight came off—70 pounds of it.But even more important?

I felt like I had taken my life back.

I felt confident.I felt powerful.I felt capable of things I never imagined.

And that spark is what led me to create RunFierz Coaching.

Why I Started RunFierz

I know what it’s like to be overwhelmed, out of shape, embarrassed, or starting from zero. I know what it feels like to wonder if it’s “too late,” or if running just “isn’t for people like me.”

But I also know what happens when you give yourself a chance.When you follow a plan built for you.When you have someone in your corner who’s walked the path before you.
